unfolding from
hands of saffron
billowing from
pinnacles consuming
a crimson ribbon
from east to west
burning
a puja in
her sacrificial
journey
silver ladles of rapture
pine and sycamore
and oak ascending
through God’s
tabernacle
The mountains body
washed in scarlet
her golden heart
breaking as garnets
escaping the gravity
of her dress
ripping into
one thousand
burning flags
after the battle’s end –
naked and
blackened
a stone spine
reveals mercy
